Next time you need a caffeine kick, you don’t need to settle for run-of-the-mill coffee served from big-chain shops. The city of Philadelphia is home to several locally owned small businesses, including coffee shops.
Our Philadelphia office has selected a few of our favorite places to visit when we hit the afternoon slump. Check it out!
GreenStreet Coffee | Facebook
Located on the corner of 11th and Spruce Street in Midtown, GreenStreet Coffee is a locally owned and operated coffee shop, committed to sustainability and fair business practices.
Owners Chris and Tom still work and operate the shop today, and they help maintain a presence in the local community and work on providing an atmosphere that’s welcoming and laid-back.
Every ingredient is responsibly sourced and carefully chosen, and customers are encouraged to come up with their own brewed recipes, as well.
Elixr Coffee | Facebook
Elixr first opened their doors in 2010 and has three separate locations throughout the Philadelphia area. This shop sets itself apart from the others with its unique roasting and sourcing process using hand-selected ingredients from all over the world. The signature taste of an Elixir cup of coffee is its light roasted flavor.
Step into any Elixr location, and you’ll get the chance to see local artists display their latest works of art. Elixr doubles as an art space and is committed to promoting up and coming artists in the Philadelphia community.
LaColombe Coffee | Facebook
LaColombe continues to make a name for itself nationally with multiple locations popping up across the country. Known for its responsibly sourced ingredients and innovative recipes, LaColombe is a staple in the Philadelphia community. The flagship store is a site to behold and is located in the heart of Fishtown. The building is an old warehouse taken over by owners JP and Todd. The two converted the space into a micro distillery and full-service coffee shop. Be sure to try the draft latte, its claim to fame.
